Grand Harbour Marina.

Situated in the majestic Grand Harbour and surrounded by medieval Galley Creek, between the ancient naval base of Brirgu and the waterfront of Senglia, this is the most attractive locations seen for a marina. Owned and managed by Camper Nicolson this is the newest of Malta’s Marinas. A quiet and beautiful setting, steeped in maritime history, berths are available in all sizes including 40 meter super yachts. Yachts from 12 to 24 meters are stern to on floating pontoons with water and electricity. The larger berths are along the entrance channel under the imposing Fort St Angelo. The amenities are readily available to all berths and entertainment includes the elegant Casino and numerous waterfront bistro’s or a short walk into the town of Birgu takes into the heart of the town used as a base and administration centre by the Knights of St John some 500 years ago.

Portomaso

A modern custom built luxury complex of exclusive apartments and restaurants including the Hilton Hotel and Casino. Built only 10 years ago the marina is very protected by the banks of apartments surrounding it. Designed as a boat owner’s haven, many apartments are purchased or rented with a berth attached to the lease. There are visitor’s berths available for guests. All the modern amenities are available and benefit from a very large underground car park. Owned by the Portomaso developers and managed by Boat Care this is a great facility for those who wish rent accommodation along with their boat for a season’s exploration of the Sicilian and Maltese islands.

Marsamxetto

Within which are two marinas and numerous midstream moorings. With the entrance via the 400 meter inlet between Tigne Point and Fort St Elmo, Marsamxetto Harbour forms part of the Valletta Harbours and is separated from the Grand Harbour only by the Valletta/Floriana peninsula itself. In total, there are 4 different creeks within Marsamxetto which are split by Manoel Island, 2 of which have large Marina facilities:-

Manoel Island Marina in Lazzaretto Creek is run my Malita Marine. A large facility including huge hard standing grounds for maintenance and wintering works, Home berths for many famous Super Yachts are next to the smaller pontoon moorings for around 150 craft of up to 18 meters that offer good modern facilities including water and electricity. Access is through a security barrier and gate house having driven over the only bridge connecting Manoel Island to Malta.

Msida Marina in Msida Creek is the largest of Malta’s marinas, government owned and managed by the Malta Maritime Authority this marina caters for over 700 yachts up to 18 meters. Eleven large and very secure pontoons run out from the shore all around the creek which is very well protected against any weather. Surrounded by the towns of Msida and Pieta a very short walk takes to any chandlery or supply store you may require. Both towns have many bars and restaurants making this a real boater's paradise. This is a huge facility with all the modern amenities and home to the small boat authority and customs.

Manoel Island Ship Yard has 5 large slipways, pulling boats up onto land via submerged cradle, 200 ton sling lift and massive hard standing facilities that provide full ship yard services to private and commercial boats alike. This is a modernised old Naval Yard that now specialises in the huge private boat industry. The resident engineering and shipwright skills are some of the best in the world ensuring that all modification and maintenance requirements are professionally catered for.

Mgarr Marina in Gozo

Government owned and managed by the Malta Maritime Authority, the Mgarr Marina consists of 208 berths (30 of which are serviced upon request). The Marina provides a perfect stop-over for anyone visiting Gozo or cruising around the Maltese Islands. Situated in the only deep water port in Gozo this is a very handy marina for owners wishing to safely tie up and explore Homers Island of Calypso.
